New term starts 11th September – New members welcome

It has been a long summer but we will be starting back with rehearsals next Tuesday 11th September.

If you have ever thought of joining, why not come along and see what we are all about? We are celebrating our 10th anniversary this year and have several exciting events coming up between now and Christmas that you could be part of. The start of the new terms is an ideal time to join us as we start learning our new pieces.

We are a friendly bunch and meet on Tuesday evenings during school term times from 7 to 8:30pm at Oxhey Wood Primary School. We ask for a recommended subscription fee of £40 per term with reduced rated available on request but you can come and try us out for the first two weeks for free. All singing abilities are welcome (even if you think you can’t sing a note).

So why wait, come along next Tuesday and for a fun evening of singing.

10th Anniversary Gala – Photos

What an evening! We had a wonderful time on Saturday at our 10th Anniversary Gala Event.

We welcomed friends both old and new plus a few local dignitaries.

We had speeches from our Chair, Christine Wyard, and musical director, Simon Wookey and the premier of our new short film, “Thank you for the Music”.

This was followed by a superb hog-roast.

And of course we finished the evening the only way the South Oxhey Choir could with a rousing performance of our favourite hits from the last 10 years.

What a lot we have achieved over the last 10 years – what will the next 10 years bring?

Summer Concert 2016 – Review

13532984_1099244650121745_6269409915362706285_n

On the 25th June 2016, we held a fantastic Summer Concert in the beautiful St Andrew’s Church, Roxborne. We presented our typical mix of songs which had a summery feel on one of the hottest days in June.

The concert started with a song from one of our Musical Director, Simon Wookey’s, favourite groups, Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know, followed by the fast paced and dramatic Rhythm of Life from the musical Sweet Charity. We showed our range of styles to include some classical pieces, Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus and Lord for thy Tender Mercy’s Sake by Richard Farrant.

We were pleased to be joined by the fantastic children of the Roxbourne Primary School Choir, conducted by honorary choir member, Nicola Wookey. They gave a great performance and really joined in and supported us. It made for a great atmosphere and really gave the audience a fantastic show.

We gave debut performances of Africa by Toto and the Battle Hymn of the Republic and rounded off the concert with  the crowd pleasers of Abba’s Thank you for the Music and Daydream Believer by the Monkees.

We would like to thank all those from St Andrew’s Church for the great welcome and to Roxborne Primary School. We hope to be back again soon.

In the mean time, look out for our upcoming concerts, including a return to Bexhill-on-Sea on Saturday 15th October and our annual Christmas Concert on Saturday 10th December, this year at another of our favourite venues, St Michael’s and All Angels in West Watford.

Here are a few photos from the rehearsal and concert.
