Summer Concert 2016 – Review

On the 25th June 2016, we held a fantastic Summer Concert in the beautiful St Andrew’s Church, Roxborne. We presented our typical mix of songs which had a summery feel on one of the hottest days in June.

The concert started with a song from one of our Musical Director, Simon Wookey’s, favourite groups, Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know, followed by the fast paced and dramatic Rhythm of Life from the musical Sweet Charity. We showed our range of styles to include some classical pieces, Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus and Lord for thy Tender Mercy’s Sake by Richard Farrant.

We were pleased to be joined by the fantastic children of the Roxbourne Primary School Choir, conducted by honorary choir member, Nicola Wookey. They gave a great performance and really joined in and supported us. It made for a great atmosphere and really gave the audience a fantastic show.

We gave debut performances of Africa by Toto and the Battle Hymn of the Republic and rounded off the concert with  the crowd pleasers of Abba’s Thank you for the Music and Daydream Believer by the Monkees.

We would like to thank all those from St Andrew’s Church for the great welcome and to Roxborne Primary School. We hope to be back again soon.

In the mean time, look out for our upcoming concerts, including a return to Bexhill-on-Sea on Saturday 15th October and our annual Christmas Concert on Saturday 10th December, this year at another of our favourite venues, St Michael’s and All Angels in West Watford.

Here are a few photos from the rehearsal and concert.
